    K2 telecom concludes innterconnection deal with MTN Uganda

    After a 3 month long battle Uganda’s first Mobile Virtual Network Operator K2 telecom subscribers can now make calls to the MTN network after the two telecom companies signed an interconnection agreement. MTN has the biggest number of subscribers in Uganda today. K2 Chief Executive Officer Saul Katumba said the agreement would widen the benefits of K2 customers. As every new entrant on the market  K2 promises to have the  cheapest calls in the market.

    The company charges Shs 240 per minute to all networks. K2 has already signed an agreement with Warid telecom. K2 telecom, a Buganda kingdom-owned network, was launched at start of the year. In their first week of operation, Katumba said, they had signed up about 60,000 subscribers.

    K2 rides on Orange Uganda’s network infrastructure and is assured of the best network quality once they begin operations.
