    Avast, Bitdefender and Windows Defender

For most of us using a Windows computer, the question of which anti-virus software can we install on our PCs to minimize the risk of common worms and viruses that remove executable files and make it hard for us to install applications is a big concern.

At the beginning of this month, researchers at Av-Tests released a report about companies that provide best anti-virus services on Windows 10. The company conducted a series of tests to compare the top antivirus software available in the market that best provides the services to devices running Windows 10

Five different security products that passed the March/April 2019 tests included Bitdefender, F-Secure, Kaspersky Lab, McAfee, and Symantec.

No fake warnings or blocks were generated by the other 6 anit-virus products with score 17.5 while browsing online, however, one of the legitimate application was wrongly detected as malware when the system was scanned. The industry average for such warnings is 3 according to AV-TEST. Whereas, no fake positives were sent by Windows Defender when a legitimate software was installed or used.

What’s the best option for your computer then?

So for the million dollar question of which anti-virus software is the best option for your PC really is relative depending on your choice of preference, all the anti-virus products that had a full score of 18 are perfect solutions for the problem. Kaspersky anti-virus is common in our streets and quite cheap as well at about UGX 50,000 for the yearly subscription which is a good bargain and you can opt to use the default Windows Defender which offers similar performance to the third party anti-virus softwares.
