    Uber introduces insurance cover for UberBoda passengers

    Earlier this year, Uber in Uganda announced their latest product offering, uberBODA, providing the citizens of Kampala a quick commute from one place to another.  To continue their commitment to passengers, Uber is excited to announce a new innovative insurance product designed specifically for uberBODA passengers in Kampala, Uganda.

    One of Uber’s highest priorities is the safety and security of users, and insurance is a critical part of their safety programme. All over the world, Uber’s ride-sharing option has revolutionised the way in which people move around their cities, ensuring that passengers, whether it’s in the backseat of a vehicle or on the back of a Boda-Boda bike, they can get from A to B in the most convenient, reliable, secure and affordable way possible.

    A new insurance policy which is designed to cover uberBODA passengers while on the back of a uberBODA in Kampala will be provided by UAP Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda, the Market leader in Life Insurance in Uganda and a subsidiary of Old Mutual Africa

    In the unfortunate event of an accident while on a trip, the coverage provides passenger accident insurance, which covers:

    • Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability: The benefit will cover up to UGX 1 800 000 per person. The next of kin or beneficiaries will also receive UGX 550 000 for funeral costs.
    • Accident Medical Expense: When injuries as a result of any Accident require treatment, the passenger will be covered up to UGX 600 000
