DSTV Now is the streaming service of the pay tv giant DSTV offering not just movies and catch up content but live TV too. This is perhaps what differentiates it from the likes of Netflix and Showmax that only have movies, TV shows, Documentaries among others to offer. DSTV Now has three services from the brand baked into a single service as it has Live TV, Catch Up and recently Box Office, the Movie rental service from DSTV best known for blockbusters movies.
Previously, DSTV Now was limited to Premium, Compact Plus and Compact subscribers who could login using their account credentials, but now it extends to Family, Access and Easy View.
However, users will only be limited to live channels and catch up content that applies to their respective bouquets. Lets say if your package allows 12 channels with the normal satellite TV service, so will be the live channels and Catch Up content with your DSTV Now account.
DSTV Now allows a maximum of 4 devices using the subscribers connect ID. It is available on the web and on Android and iOS devices especially smartphones and tablets.
Another development is that ShowMax, the real answer to Netflix is yet to become free for DSTV premium subscribers. Some markets already have it free but it is yet to materialize in Uganda.
These value addition services give more value to customers to subscribe or renew their subscribers over time. We only hope this could be extended to their DTT branch, that is GOtv given majority of the population have it and internet is becoming cheaper over time.
