Smile Uganda one of Uganda’s surviving 4GLTE network is currently experiencing connectivity outages for 3 days running in most locations across the country. According to a statement from the company, this has resulted from a failure in resolving a standing financial dispute with some of their tower providers (TowerCo), who have opted to disable connectivity throughout the various base stations under their management especially in areas on Ntinda, Kiwatule, Bugolobi, etc.
Smile leadership, is currently engaging the Towerco to resolve this issue amicably to avoid any further disruption of services. This comes a few day after the company has announced that it will pay the OTT tax for its customers for the next 3 months only for them to be cut off from enjoying the services the company offers.
Smile Uganda has assured customers that their network engineers are working closely with other third party Tower providers to address the outage, and restore connections as soon as possible.
“”We want to assure our valued customers, that all efforts are being made to address this issue at the shortest time possible, and would like to thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. Smile Uganda remains steadily committed to providing Ugandans with the best internet connectivity at all times.” They said in the a statement to their customers.
