The Kayoola bus is a Kira EV concept that came to book as the first ever multi-seater classic to be built in Uganda. According to rumors in the pipeline, the Kayoola bus will hit Kampala streets this year after a direct intersection with the ministry of science, technology, and innovations.
History has the fate of non-fuel cars in Uganda lying in the hands of Kiira Motors Corporation which is the only company that has teased its car models on the streets of Kampala such as the Kiira EV SMACK and Kiira EV Poc. However, with the Kayoola bus concept which was developed by the same company, the demand for such a brilliant innovation has seen the ministry come closer to its UGX 143bn goals as startup capital to Kiira motors promised way back in 2014.
We have got government commitment to raise Shs143b in four years and in the first year which is this one, they have raised Shs24 b which Kiira Motors will have, to start up the process. We are going to start with buses because it helps in transporting so many people and then we shall go on double cabin Pickups – Minister Elioda Tumwesigye
According to unconfirmed sources, the 2019 goal might be achieved since the ministry is currently in high gear to make the electric powered cars in Uganda a dream come true with a new assembly line developed. More so, the potential launch of the Kayoola bus could pave way for the Kiira EV series which are overdue after a failed target of 2018. Nonetheless, we shall hunt every node of the Solar bus testing dates soon with an in-depth article of the features and capabilities it might hold.
