The OTT tax (or Social Media Tax to many) went live on 1st July, 2018. Consequently, internet users who want to access, well what the government labelled as OTT services, have to pay UGX 200 per day. Surprise, surprise!! Roke Telekom is going to pay the tax for its customers.
Tax free Social Media access on Roke Telkom!
Roke Telekom customers definitely built their internet life on a strong “Roke”. The Bugolobi based company announced that it will be covering the cost of the tax for all Roke Enterprise & Roke Plus bundled products clients indefinitely.
This means that users will not go through the inconvenience of paying extra monies for the tax. They will only stick to paying their usual subscription fees. Smile Communications announced a similar setting a few days back
Some of the big Telecom companies have however left the tax burden on their subscribers. They just sent out notification messages to users about the government directive, and how they are supposed to pay. Over confidence?


Roke Plus bundled products.
The bundled products covered include;
- Roke Mega Plus.
- Roke Unlimited Plus.
- RokeClassic Plus.
And the RokeSpots?
Roke Telkom is yet to communicate clarification on its WiFi spots, Rokespot and Rokespot Plus.
