A technology solutions firm Dei Technologies has today launched Dei Places a Social media platform geared towards promoting Africa’s tourism potential. Focusing on pictures,videos together with words about locations shared on the social media site, Dei Places is the new trip advisor that will help you discover more adventure in a fun way as designed by a team of dedicated Uganda,America and China developers.
Speaking at the press launch held at Hotel Africana , Moses Matovu, the Product Manager said, although Dei Places performs all functions other social media platforms play,it aims at helping people share information about different places in their own unique way.

“This platform is here to help people market places. There are over a billion places across the globe worth visiting but people do not know about them. Dei Places is now here to help people market such places to the world,” said Matovu.
While responding to journalists on questions of internet usage and appreciation of technology by Ugandans, Dr Paul Bamutaze the Head of Business Development Dei Technologies noted that Dei Places is a product designed for not only Uganda but Africa and the world at large.
“The world has become too small for people to think only for their localities. At Dei Technologies, our focus is now global. We have therefore created a number of affiliations on many other products. Dei Places is our first product, but many more are on the way,” said Bamutaze.
However, Bamutaze also appreciated the fact that internet usage in Uganda that has greatly increased citing a recent report by the Uganda Communications Commission.
By June this year, Uganda had over 17.1 million internet users according to UCC, as compared to the 16.8 million users in 2016 which is set to increase over the years.Furthermore the launch of Uganda’s first ever Social Media platform is expected to refuel more innovations in order to catch up with the current trends.
Dei places is currently accessible worldwide similar to the giant social media networks in place including Facebook,twitter among other platforms.Thus with stiff competition from global platforms,does the new Ugandan based Social media Platform stand a chance to be adopted both locally and internationally?
