Of late, simplicity is what defines app usage, and this is what developers are setting their sight on to-date. At least Facebook got to know this from a study conducted on messaging app users, where they found that it is indeed “their top priority” when choosing what to use.
In the latest update to the Messenger app, the company has announced a new and simplified version – Messenger 4 – which will see a trim on the available tabs from nine down to just three.
Forget what you knew before, all of your chats will be in a single tab; called the Chats tab. Then there is the People tab; where you get your friends currently active, and also the ability to find further friends. The third is the Discover tab; which is a connection point with friends, for both deals and games.
Facebook says this will “make it easier to find the features you care about” while keeping it simpler and much more appealing to the user.
Messenger 4 also brings with it an update to let you personalize your conversations. The feature, called color gradients, will allow you to use multiple colors to customize your chat bubbles in conversations. These can be changed any time depending on your mood or topic of conversation.
The updates will roll out in phases, with later up-comings likely to come along with a Dark Mode.
