By now, If you’ve never opted to buy a budget friendly smartphone in Africa, At some point you must have opted for a Tecno/Infinix/ Itel smartphone as an additional flavor to your budget list. On the other hand, chances are everyone opts to use the newly purchased phone as it is without back crawling for the original manufacturer behind the brand name.
As a matter of Fact we all term these smartphones by the market name, For instance, one would brag “ I own a Tecno Camon X “ against a friend with an Itel S13 in relation to the brand name than the back-end producer. Through this Dilemma, Transsion holdings has turned out to be a household name in Africa giving Apple & Samsung a combined headless run for their stock.
Between 2010-2014, everyone wanted a copy o the Galaxy series with Apple’s iPhone 4S portrayed with a fancy design and eye blooming features. However, this has seemed to change as Tecno/Itel/Infinix brands have a lion’s share of the 1.2billion population market with a price specific approach.
How Transsion holdings has managed to dominate the top slot
On a wider scale, everyone buys a smartphone that surely fits his/her budget with our quarterly selection having a blend of Transsion produced phones making it to the list. Ironically the Chinese based firm has a fairly unpronounced brand image in China, But instead a King in Africa with a scale of 1 on every 3 smartphones anywhere on the continent. However, how it has managed to do this! a price to feature friendly scale overlooks the desires of phone users

According to CNN, Transsion holdings assembles all its smartphones in Ethiopia and China ranging from the dominative Tecno devices to the Itel plus Infinix versions. Unlike Apple and Samsung that tend to ship in top-tier series right from the source, the trio’s wrath can be felt on the cost per smartphone. Just last year, they were among the top 5 brands to ship more smartphones to Uganda than the latter duo
A few weeks back we had the 13MP selfie-camera gifted Itel S13 smartphone long after Tecno’s FaceID blockbuster. But then, the Itel had a UGX 290,000 price tag mounted on its name as the latter had a UGX 940,000 tag to its pro version. By the same specs, finding a Samsung/Apple smartphone with the same specifications would rave up between $100 – $800 respectively.
Through a budget friendly promise to smartphone wonders with a quality camera approach in a Snapchat generation, It’s by no doubt that we might soon see more Tecno or Infinix smartphones than any other brand in the near future. More so, the chronological series from feature phones all the way to smartphones is undeniably a domination alert straggling the China phone slogan in Uganda.
The Tecno/Itel/Infinix domination
As much as the triple threat approach by Transsion has highly impacted the penetration and satisfaction of an internet hungry generation. Samsung and Apple still have a wider base attributed to the high-end features evidenced with each and every release. However, we expect the leaders to slash smartphone prices in a bid to meet the current Chinese trade statics as Apple unveiled the iPhone XR as a chapter alternative to the high-end XS and XS Max.
