Kenyan based Mondo Ride Taxi hailing service to launch in Uganda

While everyone is used to the popular city phrase “Yita Uber”, the future of ride hailing services in Uganda seems bright as many services keep joining it. Amongst these is Kenyan based Mondo Ride, which is said to be planning a launch here in Uganda.

While ride hailing services continue to garner attention, do we see the usual old commuter Taxis fade off the scene? I guess not, since they have curved out a niche market most of whom live within Kampala and its environs leaving out other parts of the country.

However, the ride hailing industry has also been intense lately with Uber in lead position, Taxify in there, Kenya’s Little was rumoured to launch and so was Lyft. It’s a clear manifestation of what the future holds for ride hailing services in Uganda.

Mondo Ride is yet another ride hailing service set to join this craze. It originates from  the Middle East but it is currently headquartered in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. Much as Uber was welcomed with open arms way back in 2016 and Taxify in 2017, should we expect Mondo Ride to receive a similar treatment and alter the way things work here with a sounding impact to the transport sector?

Mondo brings the same old ride hailing features but how they differentiate their service will determine their survival amid fierce competition from the likes of Uber, Taxiy, Quick Taxi etc.

To draw from Taxify’s launch, many riders saw this as a whole new cheaper solution, which is something they’re yet to ride on. Mondo Ride could as well receive the same treatment if they play their cards well. The service is rumored to be currently signing up drivers in thus providing grounds for their imminent launch.
