Sometimes all you need is a simple smartphone that can make everyone envious. If you are in dire need of a device that can let you socialize as much as you want, keep you turned on for longer than a day, and quench any needs you could have in regards to phone use – you should look out for the new itel P33.
itel capitalizes on the usual entry-level status of most of its products to offer a superb, and intelligent, powerhouse in the P33. At less than $100, you get a handset of much more value with a simple design and build.
What’s in the box?
The P33 comes sealed in a red rectangular box. In the box is:
- The itel P33
- 2 pin Power adapter
- USB-cable
- Transparent phone case
- Earphones

At first sight, the itel P33 is attractive and even without the premium features you would find on high-end devices, you can be pulled over the edge to get yourself one given the pocket friendly price and wonderful performance.
The first impressions
The itel P33 is a beautiful make. It comes with a decent screen display, a cool plastic back, with a fingerprint sensor on it. A 5.5 inch smartphone is in line with the average trends as per the new entrants on the market, and being as fitting as it is makes it even more plausible.

With a dual camera setup on the rear, and an intelligent front sensor – which can recognize your face – the P33 makes the previous itel’s a no-go zone anymore. If you add the long-lasting battery to the equation, it is a definite take home. From the little time we’ve used the phone, it really does go up to the 80 hours of non-stop usage.
There are quite some notable improvements from the P32, such as the doubled storage capacity to 16GB from the 8 on the P32; and a boost to an 8MP dual rear sensor on the P33 from the 5MP on the predecessor. More detail to each of the specifications will come in our extensive phone review.
What we like
Heavy battery: The itel P33 is by far the heaviest battery phone you could come across. Various phones have ways of optimizing their consumption, but the P33 has a really smart Phone Manager, which includes a Power Master that can keep tabs on how it uses apps.
Simple build: This is one of those phones itel must have put a lot of focus on when making. It is a perfect fit for someone that wants simple ideas, yet a good match to those that have an interest in unique designs. You won’t see a notch, or edge-to-edge display on the P33, but you can be sure of a really cool gadget in it.
Light-weight OS: Android 8’s Go Edition makes the use of the P33 so comforting that you can rush to think of it as a high RAM device. Yet, at only 1 GB – you can switch through apps swiftly, receive notifications promptly, and surf on the internet with much ease.
Biology ID: Given the trends in smartphone security point at having smart fingerprint sensing and facial recognition as the way to go, the itel P33 does not disappoint. For a phone as simple, the effectiveness of this kind of authentication adds a lot of value and attachment to an ordinary user.

What we don’t like
No 4G: itel should think of making an entry level or mid-range device with 4G capability, as it’s the way to go. The P33’s power control is really good, but having to struggle with internet speeds is not an amusing option.
Unnecessary warnings: The smart Power Master helps you to ensure that no app consumes your battery power in the background while you don’t know. It will keep pushing in “(This app) is consuming a lot of power, it is recommended to close” messages, but sometimes these are not really needed. Never the less, paying attention to them keeps up your battery percentage.
