Infinix Mobility recently announced the availability of its latest addition to the Hot series, the Infinix Hot 8. Like its predecessor, the new Hot phone is a comfortable and surprisingly affordable phone that showcases its value in the specifications packed in it.
Trends are changing every now and then. The high demand for low cost and budget smartphones with high-end features is pushing manufacturers into releasing smarter and more stylish devices.
The Hot 8 speaks this out clearly, especially with the big difference from the Hot 7 amidst the short time frame between their release dates.
Unboxing the Infinix Hot 8

In the box are the phone, Charger head, a transparent phone case, earphones, micro USB charger, and screen protector.
The First Impressions
The Infinix Hot 8 is really big and you can mistake it for a Note device. Infinix strategically gave this device large display size, with a drop notch, in a bid to captivate the mid-range phone market.
That aside, the handset is actually light and compact – something similar to the Hot 7, and this makes it easy to hold in your palm as well as to slip in your pockets.
As long as you have a big screen, you can enjoy as much of the movies and videos, playing games, and video chatting using the Hot 8. The phone comes with an 8 MP front-facing camera with a flashlight for facial recognition, video recording and conferencing, as well as taking selfies.
It comes with a really beautiful shiny back cover that has the fingerprint scanner in the centre, to keep the security in check as well as for easy access to your apps and functions.
The Hot 8 also upgrades to a triple camera setup from the dual sensors on the predecessor. The keen combination of three cameras at the back is something we are now getting confident about low-priced mid-range smartphones.
The Good
There is quite a lot to love about the new Hot series smartphone. First is the impressive 5000mAh battery capacity, which once fully charged, will take you for two other days regardless of the weight of your activity.
The 6.6-inch screen cannot go without mention. The positioning of the drop notch makes it even more spacious for all the activity you would wish to exhibit on your Hot 8. It is just awesome.
The Hot 8 comes with an upgrade to the software, running on android 9 Pie and Infinix’s own XOS Cheetah v5 that is designed to adapt to the user’s intelligence.
Infinix could have heard our long cries on this. The device, unlike the previous Hot phones, comes with 4G network connectivity. Today’s technological advancements demand an upgrade to the fourth generation of networks and support for it on the Hot 8 is a thumbs up.
The Bad
Despite the need to gauge costs and pricing, we’d expect Infinix to increase on the RAM and internal storage capacity of its releases the way it has gradually upgraded the other features. Having a phone running 2 gigs of RAM and a mere 32 GB of internal storage is not fun.
We also expected the front camera sensor to be upgraded from the 8 mega-pixels that the Hot 7 came with, and this leaves a lot to be desired.
