    How to use  MoMoPay’s Scan to Pay to pay for goods and services

    MTN Uganda’s MoMoPay launched about a year ago and represented a shift of the Mobile Money service from mere sending and receiving money into a payments product. It leveraged the use of *165*3# USSD code to complete these payments. MTN Uganda has now added QR codes to this stable with its Scan to Pay feature.

    How does Scan to Pay work ?

    Scan to Pay scans QR codes at merchants premises or point of sale terminals and here is a rundown of how it works;

    1. First you need to download the MyMTN app on either Android or iOS
    2. Select Mobile Money
    3. Select MTN MoMoPay
    4. Instead of entering the Merchant ID, use the QR Code option
    5. This will open up you camera to scan the QR code printed at the merchants premise
    6. Input the amount to be paid and then confirm

    This deviates the need for one to input somewhat lengthy merchant codes on top of being free from transaction charges.
