While Barclays bank has always focused on digitizing all its services, the new partnership with Shell to provide affordable and convenient Visa enabled cards will surely pay off.

The EasyGocard is designed to enable shell customers to pay for various products and services at Shell stations. Just like any other Visa card, the new EasyGo card is not limited to purchasing Shell products or services but rather pay for all e-services at absolutely no cost since the card is not associated with any charges, unlike the usual bank visa cards.

The inbuilt ultra-secure technology enabled on the EasyGo chip together with a pin for extra security secures user transactions both at Shell stations and online while using e-commerce services. Nevertheless, Mobile money top up is enabled by default on the Easy Go card, thus you don’t have to stress yourself with long ques but rather deposit funds to your card anytime anywhere. However, a user doesn’t necessarily need to have a bank account to signup for the EasyGo card since its Visa enabled services are available even without a physical bank account open.

Vivo energy MD Gilbert Assi (Middle) shares a light moment with Barclays officials

Speaking at the EasyGo card launch, the Managing director Vivo energy Uganda, Mr. Gilbert Assi noted that Unlike any other card payments that come with charges, the new fuel EasyGo card has no transaction or subscription fees. Therefore, could this mean that the first ever Visa enabled fuel card is completely free of charge? Or maybe transaction charges shall be introduced in the near future or perhaps Barclays Bank adding up new card features to the card that may require purchase. Vivo energy retail manager, Issa Karanja further added that EasyGo is the first free Visa Enabled card, we just have to embrace the new digitized fuel cards.

“The introduction of the EasyGo card amplifies Vivo energy’s position as an innovator and customer-centric company in the fuel industry. A wide range of our customers participated in the product development process and the end product includes features requested by customers- it is no wonder that the product has had a great traction already”. – Issa Karanja, Vivo energy retail manager

Vivo energy’s direct competitor Total has for long had Fuel cards, but the new Shell EasyGo card is an extremely better fuel card that is even Visa enabled as compared to any other on the market. Nevertheless as the Barclays bank managing director, Mr Rakesh Jha pointed out that, ” The easy Go card is the only fuel card on the market that is Visa enabled thus giving user access to a wider range of services”, which clearly shows that the EasyGo card is a whole new digitized Visa enabled fuel card. Therefore EasyGo card is worth a checkout with its worldwide integration to the Visa network.
