The “best iPhone(s) ever” is seemly breathing it’s last as it’s one slogan that defines every new iterative update to iPhone, year over year.
The iPhone XS and XS Max launch were not spared as the same slogan was used to define them. It’s only the iPhone XR that missed the slogan but it was also defined as the best in its class.
What is the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR? Let’s break it down
The iPhone XS is a new 5.8Inch smartphone bringing on board a new Six-Core A12 Bionic processor, a wide angle and telephoto 12MP dual camera setup at the back plus a 7MP true depth selfie camera for its Face ID system and taking selfies.
The iPhone XS Max maxes the screen to 6.5Inches and shares almost everything with the XS except for the battery.
One surprise is that now all these new iPhones support dual SIMs, a first for iPhones. Both the XS and XS Max are IP68 rated.
Both phones will come in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage configurations. Also 512GB default storage is a first in any iPhone.
Both iPhones come equipped with OLED screens, promise faster processing, faster gigabit internet, better images, better HDR, wider stereo output, faster Face ID, improved battery life with the XS getting an additional 30 minutes than the iPhone X while the XS Max gets an additional one hour and half.
Both phones are built using a stud stainless steel frame with glass at the front and back. They also come come equipped with True Tone displays, 3D Touch plus support for both HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
What damage will cause to your pockets?
The iPhone XS will start at $999 while the XS Max will start at $1099 for the base 64GB models but this will jump up as you upgrade to bigger storage models.
The iPhone XR didn’t attract too much pomp as it’s other siblings. It is the budget option of the three and will retail for around $749 for the 64GB base model. Other storage configurations are 128GB and 256GB and here is what it brings on table
The iPhone XR will come with a 6.1Inch LCD not OLED Display, the same single 12MP wide angle back camera as found on the XS and XS Max, so don’t expect a dual camera system and a 7MP true depth selfie camera.
It shares the same A12 bionic processor with the XS and XS Max. It has a significant advantage in the battery department as promises an hour and half longer than the current iPhone 8 Plus.
The iPhone XR is certified IP67 water and dust resistant not IP68 like the XS and XS Max. It also comes with an aluminum body not glass in an assortment of colors like black, white, red, corral, yellow.
All these iPhones did away with the home button so brace yourself for gesture based navigation.
