    Airtel launches ‘Sukuma Cash’ campaign, drops charges on sending money

    Airtel Uganda has unveiled a new campaign, dubbed Sukuma Cash, in the build up to the 2019 African Cup of Nations games. Airtel being the main team sponsor of the Uganda Cranes, making its second consecutive qualification to the finals, has opted to reward customers and agents that send money using Airtel Money in the 90-day promotion.

    With effect from today, Airtel is dropping charges by 60% on money sent to your friends and family. For as low as UGX 100 and as much as UGX 1,000, you will be able to send as much as you can to enter a draw in which you could stand a chance to win yourself instant money as well as a trip to Egypt. The deal will run for only the Sukuma Cash promo.

    Up to 22 customers and 3 mobile money agents will each win UGX 500,000 for the next 90 days, while 7 customers and 3 agents will win a fully paid trip to watch the AFCON finals in Egypt. Tickets will be given out up to the 8th of June.

    All that a customer needs to do is to dial *185# and send money to your friends, clients, and family, then wait for the daily draw to find out whether you are a winner. Winners will be contacted using 0752600222.

    Airtel has also increased the charges on money sent from your Airtel Money wallet to your Bank account, while greatly cutting the rates on utility bill payments and ‘other payments’.

    Note that the new rates in the link above are effective on 7th June and they affect wallet to bank transactions and payments.

    The 60% charge drop is effective today with a limit of 90 days, and will only affect sending money.
